See when I wake up in the morning there should be this consistent, on-going sense of love not because I have a significant other but because I woke up and God has given me another day to live. To ponder on God and His goodness that He has given me another day, another life to live. He could’ve decided to not let me wake up and call me home with Him, (I’d love for that to happen, to finally meet my Maker) But the fact that I’m still here, living and breathing, That’s worth celebrating!
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:33
Do you believe in God, Do you believe in Jesus? Do you really understand what He did for you on the cross, when He laid down His life on the cross for you and me and how He took all your sins and my sins. He endured pain, suffering, beating, persecution and death?
If we really understood the gravity of that, then we will understand what REAL LOVE IS. And you will do the same thing to your partner or to people around you. You will lay down your life EVERYDAY and your personal and selfish desires for the sake of other people. Putting them first, and forgetting yourself EVERYDAY, not just for one day.
So if you’re a Christian and you’re reading this and you have a significant other, please don’t wait for ‘valentines day’ to come before you take your partner out to dinner, or write notes, or do nice things. If you woke up this morning and saw your mom first when you went downstairs, greet and give her a kiss. Everyday is an opportunity to extend love and grace to someone.
P.S. - If you’re single, you don’t need a ‘Valentine’ to make you feel ‘loved’, You need God, and understand what His Son did for you on the cross coz that’s real LOVE.
In Christ,
Mark Muldez
